Reel or Not? by Voolo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service:
We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or precise location. We do not require account creation.
This App only analyzes content from publicly available URLs that you provide. We do not access private, restricted, or password-protected content. The App does not store, redistribute, or display the original content — it only processes text, audio transcripts, and visual text for the purpose of fact-checking commentary and analysis. All original content remains the property of its respective creators.
When you submit a URL, our servers perform the following process:
Spoken audio from the submitted URL is temporarily extracted and sent to a transcription service (Groq Whisper) to convert speech to text. The audio file is immediately discarded after transcription and is never stored on our servers.
A small number of still frames (typically 4–6) are temporarily sampled from the video to detect on-screen text, captions, and visual claims. These frames are sent to an AI vision service for text extraction and are immediately discarded afterward. No video footage is stored, retained, or displayed to any user.
Your check history is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. Fact-check results (text only, no media) are cached on our servers for up to 30 days to improve performance for repeat lookups, after which they are automatically deleted. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Our app uses the following third-party services to provide fact-checking. Each service has its own privacy policy governing data processing:
Voolo Pro subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. No refunds will be provided for the unused portion of a subscription term.
Our app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
You can clear all your local data at any time from the Settings tab within the app. Since we do not collect personal information, there is no account data to delete.
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what data we collect and to request deletion.
EU/EEA residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, including any URLs you have submitted. Your data may be processed in the United States.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
